A wish from a child of a Moluccan KNIL-soldier prompted this.

"Water project on the island of Seram, Indonesia for the locality of Kamarian"

Viking Financial Real Estate S.L. Spain has decided to venture into something completely unknown to them, namely a water project (air proyek) in Indonesia.

A story about how we as the Dutch handled the departure of our compatriots the Moluccans from their homeland Indonesia made a big impression.
However, Moluccans were forced by necessity to accept the departure from their birth and hometown of Assen in its place along with their family members.

Unfortunately, Moluccan society in the Netherlands was not given the opportunity to return to their place of birth in the Moluccas.
The promise was that in 1950 they would be allowed to return within six months and then start establishing their own state.
This was forbidden and made impossible by the Indonesian government of the time and, unfortunately, the current government does not want to cooperate either.
Many Moluccans agreed with themselves that if you saw an opportunity to help their fellow villagers left behind, they would do so.

People there today live with a fairly large population in harsh conditions.
No drinking water, no or almost no electricity, no sanitary facilities such as a sewer or septic tanks.
However, some wells have been drilled in the village, Kamarian locality.

After lengthy discussions, the executives of Viking Financial Real Estate S.L. Spain decided to start helping that village to some extent.
A neighbouring waterfall can start providing a fantastic resource for your fellow villagers.

They have approached Royal HaskoningDHV and they are going to do a
study into the possibility of tapping water from that waterfall and piping it to the village.
Presumably this could be done by tapping water at a high point and then feeding it to the village through a gravity-fed water pipe.
We are also calculating the costs and looking into the possibility of installing sanitary facilities in the houses and, if possible, installing a toilet, a shower and a washbasin at each house.
We are also looking at installing solar panels with storage batteries so that the village can start having electricity.

A few houses will be built in consultation with Royal HaskoningDHV to provide living and sleeping quarters for the workmen and also provide them with shower and toilet facilities and electricity through solar panels.
When the work is finished, these houses will be left in good condition and they will become property of the village. Everything, of course, in consultation with the village chief.
Finally, irrigation canals will be constructed for agriculture and/or livestock.
